As part of our commitment to improving the lives of patients living with seizure disorders, we recognize the value of supporting the healthcare and patient community by providing educational grants and sponsorships.
Marinus offers funding support for activities and programs focused on status epilepticus, rare seizure disorders and pediatric epilepsies that benefit patients, families, caregivers and healthcare professionals (HCPs). Funding support may be given in the form of a sponsorship, educational grant, or corporate membership. Marinus complies with the principles established by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) Compliance Guidance for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) Code on Interactions with Health Care Professionals.
All requests must be submitted by the organization through the online application process. Requesting organizations will be required to accept all terms and conditions of the application process. Application submission does not guarantee funding.

FAQs
Q: What is an educational grant?
A: An educational grant is financial support awarded for a specific scientific or educational activity designed to educate healthcare professionals and/or patients and caregivers within Marinus’ areas of therapeutic interest. Grants are provided for both Continuing Education/ Continuing Medical Education (CE/CME)-certified and non-certified educational activities. All requests are reviewed for educational and scientific merit, audience scope, compliance with legal, ethical, and professional obligations, as well as fiscal responsibility.
Q: What is a sponsorship?
A: Promotional or medical/scientific funding in support of events, programs or other activities conducted by an external organization, in return for a legitimate business need or medical/scientific benefit. Examples of such benefits include, but are not limited to exhibit or display space, employee attendance, Marinus-branded material distribution, Marinus logo placement in materials and/or organization’s website, or other advertising opportunities. Examples of Sponsorship opportunities include, but are not limited to, medical society annual meetings, advocacy group meetings or events, scientific/medical education conferences (other than funding for an individual or continuing medical education session or seminar (“Accredited Education”)).
Q: What is a corporate membership?
A: Funding provided to organizations, that represent our therapeutic areas of interest, the broader pharmaceutical industry, or other legitimate business interests. Corporate contributions allow Marinus to participate in the organization’s activities and voice our thoughts and opinions within the organization and to the public at large.
Q: Is it necessary to use the Marinus application template?
A: Yes. In order to provide concise and timely review of applications, we require that all applicants utilize the request form below.
Q: Are scientific conferences the only types of meetings supported?
A: No. Meetings and conferences that focus on other aspects of status epilepticus and rare seizure disorders, such as caregiver support, patient advocacy, healthcare, etc. will be considered for sponsorship.
Q: When do I need to submit a request/application?
A: We recommend submitting applications at least 60 days prior to the event date. Marinus will not accept any applications for events that have already occurred.
Q: Will any portion of my program budget be subject to the transparency reporting for physicians, healthcare professionals, healthcare organizations, patient or professional advocacy organizations (collectively, “Transparency Obligations”)?
A: Yes, possibly. Marinus Pharmaceuticals funding to your organization may be subject to transparency reporting.
Q: Can I make changes to my request?
A: Yes, after your application has been submitted, if there is something you want to change you may contact Marinus to do so. However, once an application has been approved, it will be more difficult to make any alterations, as the funding has been approved for a specific event or activity. Please contact sponsorships@marinuspharma.com for sponsorship requests, and grants@marinuspharma.com for educational grant updates.
Q: Can spouses or friends of attending/participating HCPs also attend?
A: We realize that spouses and families of HCPs and researchers attending a conference often come along. Marinus cannot cover any costs other than that of the actual attendee.
Q: If my funding request is approved, will I receive the same support if I want to attend the same meeting, conference, or event next year?
A: No. Funding is not automatically renewed. You are welcome to submit a new application for sponsorship for the event etc. the following year.
Q: If Marinus is supporting a fundraising event such as a walk or run, can some of the funds be used to provide prizes or awards?
A: No. Sponsorship funds are to support the event, and cannot be given in the form of gifts, gift cards, or cash prizes.
